SUMMARY:All Under One Roof (AUOR) Air Wildfire and Smoke Event
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the UM Living Lab and SMART FIRES\, this free community event offered hands-on science activities on the library’s first floor. Elementary and middle school students explored interactive demonstrations at the spectrUM Discovery Bench to learn how smoke impacts health. Families also met with local climate and weather experts to gain practical tips on wildfire safety. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSee more events related to Public Outreach

SUMMARY:Citizen Science Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Citizen science is science for everyone! Specifically\, citizen science is when the public voluntarily helps conduct scientific research. From sharing photos of nature to help scientists document biodiversity to browsing images on your computer to help speed up research about Alzheimer’s disease\, each of these acts of science is important.  \n\n\n\nJoin the National Girls Collaborative Project\, SciStarter and Montana NSF EPSCoR EoD lead Suzi Taylor for this exciting webinar to hear examples of citizen science projects\, gain ideas and resources for getting involved with projects\, and learn how girls and other groups historically marginalized in science can benefit from participation in these programs. We hope you will join us to celebrate Citizen Science Month (April 2024)\, work to broaden participation in the sciences and support scientific research!  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSee more events related to Public Outreach

SUMMARY:Wildfires and Air Quality - Providing a Relevant Portal to Get Audiences Invested in the Conversation
DESCRIPTION:During this online workshop we will hear from partners engaging audiences of all ages in Earth and climate science through activities that take a closer look at the scientific and societal impacts of wildfires. Learn how to use activities from the NISE Network\, NASA\, and others to demonstrate the connection between global issues of climate and evolving fire seasons. Presenters will discuss strategies for making content relevant and approachable\, while creating a safe space for important conversations around climate resilience to transpire. Come hear how to increase interest in your community and empower the public to take action. \n\n\n\nView a recording of the workshop and resources
