SUMMARY:Citizen Science Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Citizen science is science for everyone! Specifically\, citizen science is when the public voluntarily helps conduct scientific research. From sharing photos of nature to help scientists document biodiversity to browsing images on your computer to help speed up research about Alzheimer’s disease\, each of these acts of science is important.  \n\n\n\nJoin the National Girls Collaborative Project\, SciStarter and Montana NSF EPSCoR EoD lead Suzi Taylor for this exciting webinar to hear examples of citizen science projects\, gain ideas and resources for getting involved with projects\, and learn how girls and other groups historically marginalized in science can benefit from participation in these programs. We hope you will join us to celebrate Citizen Science Month (April 2024)\, work to broaden participation in the sciences and support scientific research!  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSee more events related to K-12 Educator Professional Development

SUMMARY:SMART FIRES Data Lake Training Session
DESCRIPTION:The SMART FIRES (SF) data lake–a premier team data storage resource for big data–is now ready to use! A data lake is a lightly structured resource for use with active internal (i.e.\, non-public) data. This will be of particular importance to researchers generating\, managing\, and sharing large datasets. The SF data lake can be used with Globus data transfer capabilities to: \n\n\n\n\nfacilitate swift movement of large data sets between collaborators;\n\n\n\nenable better data management for big data; and\n\n\n\nprovide an ongoing opportunity for the team to collectively and consistently select and apply data management best practices.   \n\n\n\n\nThe SF Cyberinfrastructure (CI) Team led an initial data lake training session for SF researchers on Tuesday\, April 9th\, 11:00am – 1:00pm MDT.  \n\n\n\nLearn more about the SMART FIRES data lake \n\n\nSee more events related to K-12 Educator Professional Development
