Montana NSF EPSCoR’s SMART FIRES project unites more than 120 researchers, educators and students across nine Montana institutions to study prescribed fire, smoke and community impacts. Supported by a $20 million NSF grant, the effort combines fire science, AI, sensors and public engagement to build wildfire-resilient communities and improve fire management statewide.
